St. Stephen's School is a five-year, independent, non-denominational, boarding and day school founded in 1964 and was the first school in Italy to offer the International Baccalaureate. In our international setting we seek to combine what is best in the American and European educational traditions by providing a demanding classical liberal arts education taking full advantage of our location in the historic center of Rome. Our objectives are, amongst others; academic excellence, the fostering of a sense of fellowship and cooperation among students and faculty and the promotion of students as independent, responsible and involved contributing members of the larger world community. Our curriculum reflects our response to the needs of students in an international environment who aim to further their studies throughout the world.

 ADVANCED PLACEMENT (AP)

St. Stephen's students have the option of preparing for and taking any of a number of Advanced Placement examinations given each year by the Educational Testing Service of the College Board. Students scoring well on these tests may be granted advanced placement or degree credit by colleges and universities in the United States and elsewhere.
